Where they are used and what they are made of
Ground mount structures carry an array on open land, where tilt and row spacing can be set freely and the modules stay easy to reach for cleaning. FERO makes two ground mount types from SS400 iron, hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 with a 90 micron coating after fabrication, so the zinc covers cut edges, holes and welds. Ground mount structures are supplied galvanized only. Structure fasteners are galvanized and module fasteners are SS304.
The difference between the two is the foundation. P2 pile driven is for soil that accepts pile driving and needs no concrete piles on suitable sites. P2 concrete pile is for rocky or sandy soil where pile drivers are not suitable. The foundation type is decided from the site, not taken from a catalogue. Both run at a standard inclination of 10 to 45 degrees and a standard design wind speed of 35 m/s (126 km/h), customized per project.

How do I choose between pile driven and concrete pile?
By the soil. Driven piles suit soil that accepts driving. Where rock or loose sand make driving impractical, concrete piles give a stable foundation. The foundation follows the soil bearing capacity and the load.
Are ground mount structures available painted?
No. Ground mount structures are hot-dip galvanized only, to ASTM A123 with a 90 micron coating.
What wind speed are they designed for?
The standard design basis is 35 m/s, about 126 km/h. Coastal and exposed sites can need a higher basis, which is set from the site location and the height of the structure.
