Grid Export Compliance

Zero Export Controllers

Stay within your net metering export limit automatically, without tripping offline. GFE deploys zero export and import compliance controllers from NeoTAQ and Elum Energy, holding your grid export at the agreed limit in real time.

What it is

Export within your sanctioned limit, without losing solar

Many net metering agreements in Pakistan cap how much solar power a site can export to the grid, often well below the plant's installed capacity. A 500kW solar plant with a 250kW sanctioned export limit, for example, needs to use its full generation capacity on-site while never pushing more than 250kW back to the grid. Without a dedicated controller, a facility either exports over the limit (a compliance breach) or manually curtails generation and loses usable solar output.

The controller isn't limited to a hard zero-export setting. It can be configured to any agreed export ceiling, from zero up to the full sanctioned limit. It measures site import and export at the grid connection point continuously, then curtails or adjusts generation in real time to hold export at that configured level, without the system tripping offline and without manual intervention.

NeoSyncNeoTAQ Zero Export Controller
How it works

Holding the line at the meter

Continuous grid-point measurement

Monitors import and export at the exact point of interconnection: a live measurement, not an estimate.

Real-time curtailment

Adjusts solar generation dynamically to hold export at zero, or at any agreed limit, for example, capping a 500kW plant's export at a 250kW sanctioned limit while using the rest on-site.

No nuisance tripping

Designed to avoid the system dropping offline while curtailing, unlike basic protection-only setups.

Two delivery platforms

NeoTAQ Systems (sole distributor) for sites already on the NeoTAQ stack; Elum Energy (distributor) for SCADA-grade multi-brand sites that integrate with existing metering and grid analysers.

Where it fits

Compliance and control, distinct from measurement. For capturing site data more broadly, see industrial data acquisition & monitoring.

  • Commercial & industrial solar under net metering
  • Sites where the DISCO agreement specifies an export limit
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a zero export controller, and do I need one?

If your net metering agreement restricts or prohibits exporting power to the grid, this controller automatically curtails generation to hold export at zero or at your agreed limit. Whether your site needs one is confirmed during the site assessment. Not every site does.

Will this cause my system to trip offline when curtailing?

No. It is designed to adjust generation smoothly rather than trip. That is the specific problem this type of controller solves, versus a basic protection relay.

Does GFE use NeoTAQ or Elum Energy for this, and how is it decided?

It depends on your existing equipment and site complexity, confirmed during the site assessment. Both are deployed across GFE projects in Pakistan.

Does GFE provide this nationwide?

Yes. GFE is the sole distributor for NeoTAQ Systems and a distributor for Elum Energy, deploying export compliance controllers across Pakistan.
